I did an abbreviated cover of “Rolling in the Deep”, by Adele:
The recording is quiet and lo-fi. I’d like to find a better setup than my laptop in a chair next to the piano.
Here the piano and vocal were done together on one track, just using the built-in mic on my laptop. An easy way I think that I could improve the recording quality would be to do the piano and vocal separately, with a direct-in on the keyboard and more care micing the vocal.
It could also reduce the practice time and number of takes needed, because much of the blooper reel came from coordination problems between the piano and vocal.
Update: My brother took that recording and layered on top the missing background vocals:
Listen for them in the chorus:
you’re gonna wish you
never had met me
tears are gonna fall
rolling in the deep
